Just quick note to say I have put up a page on the kitchen renovations on the main site – all images and plans are on there. I think all the links work. LOL Most of the stuff has been previewed in this blog already, but there are three new images added – lovely mockups of the new kitchen.
Now all that waits is for me to blog how all goes alarmingly not to plan when work actually starts in the new year!
“how all goes alarmingly not to plan” For once I hope you’re wrong (but the inner sceptic says watch this space – as that’ll be just when the bottling is getting fierce).
All the preserving is what is really getting to me. Already the builder, who had promised faithfully to start on Jan 18th, is making the ‘maybe I can’t’ noises.
I don’t know what I am going to do about the bottling. I am thinking there will be a 3 week period when all I can do will be dehydrating.
Naturally, this 3 week period shall be when everything decides to come into fruition.
‘Put not your faith in builders, they are false prophets – especially of the time they’ll start and finish ;-).’ It’s a bit of a nightmare, quite frankly, for a lot of the veg. All I can suggest is that for fruit intended for jam and tomatoes intended for ketchup freezing processing later works. I’ve done that with vast gluts of plums, berries and tomatoes. Oh yes and apples for cider (apples SHOULD keep, but these weren’t.) Your kitchen-to-be does look wonderful though (although I would live in fear of walking under MY cast iron pots and pans:-) – very heavy some of it.)
Have a little faith Dave! Us contractors try to stick within our estimated timeframe, and we often do, but sometimes there are unforseen issues to be addressed once you dig in =) …or even changes in the owners mind about something as it’s developed. And sometimes it depends on the contractor you go with – if you go with a reputable one, they might be reputable for a reason.
Anywho I’m quite sure you’ll enjoy your newly renovated kitchen, an updated look makes all the difference in the world!
