Just a couple of photos. Walls patched and cornice added, floors almost finished - just need final coat of sealant. In the second photo you can see how grimy the walls are by the line of clean paintwork under the cornice where the plasterers have washed it. Also, that ceiling is supposed to be white! All the grime is from dirt and dust from the wood stove (now gone). I can’t wait for walls and cornice and ceiling to be painted - man, what a difference that will make. :)

I love renovations… well, at least the planning and the finished product. Hang in there… you won’t know yourself once you’re able to move back in and cook there.

I have floor envy! The kitchen is going to look fantastic. I’m sure by the end of your renovation I will have serious kitchen envy too!

Is it sad that I am so excited about your kitchen. I think I need to get a life. The floor looks fantastic. I definately have floor envy too.

It is a gas stove, and no, it is not being replaced.

Sara, i was doing some renovations of my own the other day, and i moved my overcrowded library to another room, and your books popped into view, like many forgotten things tend to do.

I realised for the first time ever, that one of the things i miss in my life is reading a story that gathers my attention, and allows me to think of that for at least a while, instead of my own problems.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, i have heard of your illness, and it shocked me. But i am glad to hear you’re okay. I myself have been unfortunate enough to be inflicted with a melanoma, and i know your pain (to a certain extent), and my bed-ridden lifestyle started me off on a minor writing career. Your books are the inspiration for my own writing, and along with Terry Pratchet, you create the forefront and inspiration of my entire career, and my life.

I know you have never met me, and i know so little about you, but your books helped in some odd way with my own problems, and this is my awkward thankyou.

So anyway, i will be keeping my beak wet, listening out for the next book, i do love a good plot twist.

    Without wax, Nofaced

I know this may be a stupid question but how in the hell does one cope without a kitchen?! You know the saying ‘the kitchen is the heart of the home’. I hope you’re not roughing it too much. Progress looking good though, all the best :)
