As if I didn’t have enough to worry about.
The kitchen garden is going great guns, even though I have been quite ill these past few weeks and unable to attend it. The carrot and pea harvests are all in. The brussel sprouts are sprouting and I will be planting out the winter’s crop soon. The fennel is grown huge and hairy. The beets have [...] Busy in the garden today - have taken the nets off the growing bush beans (and will later need to reseed 3 rows of one variety which simply hasn’t come up). Planted out a new lot of leeks, and have heeled in the mature lot (heeled in: dug them up, cut off leaves a couple [...] At least that’s what it feels like to me. Standing up in the ‘back’ vegetable patch, looking down through the eastern garden, all I see are great swathes of green: potatoes, garlic, leeks, peas, apples and peaches - the potato vines are now up to my waist - interspersed with blackboy roses. At the back [...] Every 3 months I need to be reviewed by my oncologist. So every three months I go through enormous stress. Happily I have just got through today’s appointment so I can relax now for the next 2.5 months until the stress begins to build again. Gosh, these are just awful.
